Floyd deputies arrest fugitive wanted in Ohio

Media release: Deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office fugitive task force, coordinating with fugitive agents out of Cincinnati, were able to track down and locate a wanted and dangerous fugitive from justice Thursday morning.

Deputies located 34 year old Vontaylo Marcus Fain at a location on North Avenue in Rome after Cincinnati authorities obtained information that Fain was in the Rome area.  Fain, who was on the Hamilton County, Ohio, Most Wanted list had been on the run for about two years, according to Cincinnati authorities.

Fain is wanted out of Ohio for charges stemming from Operation "Pot Lot", an operation dealing with gang members in Cincinnati's public housing area, primarily concentrating on cocaine and firearms.

A total of 22 people were indicted as of result of this operation and Fain was wanted on 5 counts of trafficking cocaine.

During the course of serving warrants on Fain in Ohio 2 years ago, a shootout occurred and Fain fled in a vehicle, flipping it several times. He was injured in the incident and was taken to a local hospital where he escaped and has been on the run until he was apprehended by Floyd County Sheriff's Office Fugitive task force Deputies Robbie Whitfield and Marti Watkins.

Fain remains in the Floyd County Jail awaiting extradition to Ohio.
