GRCVB announces new mobile app to serve as e-guide for visitors and residents

GRCVB announces new mobile app to serve as an e-guide for visitors and residents

Media release:  The Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau launched the new Georgia's Rome Mobile Application for smartphones today. The app is available for free on iPhone and Android systems.

The app serves as a resource to visitors and residents alike with full information on restaurants, attractions, hotels and entertainment throughout the city. In addition to information, users can call a business, visit a website or get instant directions all within the app.

The interactive map section uses GPS to map your current location and show any restaurant, hotel or attraction nearby. Users can tap a location on the map and receive step by step directions via GPS.

"The interactive map is going to be an amazing tool for visitors as they can literally stand in one location with their phone and receive instantaneous information about any restaurant, hotel or attraction that's nearby, " said Chris Cannon, GRCVB director of communication.

Special offer and calendar of events sections will be launching later this month. The app calendar will eventually mirror the complete calendar of events in Rome found on RomeGeorgia.org.

"Our investment into this mobile app brings us up to par with the top travel and tourism destinations in the country," said Lisa Smith, GRCVB executive director. "This technology is a 24-hour visitor center that travels in your pocket."

The launch of the new mobile app corresponds with the NAIA Football National Championship being held in Rome. The game and related events bring more than 2,000 visitors into the community over 4 days. The app is being marketed to visitors with cards that contain a QR code linking directly to the app download.

To download the mobile app using a iPhone or Andriod, users should visit goo.gl/QVJfR on their mobile phone or scan the attached QR code using a QR Code reader available for free through an app store.

The Georgia's Rome Mobil App is a free service funded solely by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau to enhance the travel experience for visitors and increase business throughout the community.
