"We've been looking forward to the opportunity to bring our unique shopping experience and our job training and employment services to Rome for quite a while. The new location also presents an opportunity for us to create new jobs in Floyd County," says Goodwill's Director of Public Relations Elaine Armstrong.
The organization is hiring floor and production associates. Those interested should apply in person during the Goodwill recruitment event on November 10, 14, and 15 from 9:00 am to 3:00pm at the Georgia Department of Labor (462 Riverside Parkway NE, Rome, 30161). The event will continue through November 16 if needed. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and should bring valid United States-issued photo identification, their Social Security Card and a resume. Interview attire is strongly recommended.
Goodwill's Rome location will not only bring new jobs to the area, but it will also be a great place for people looking to save money on clothes, books and other household items. Donors will enjoy the convenient drive-up donation center.
Inside the store the nonprofit will house a career center. One of eight Goodwill operates across North Georgia, the center will feature resources for job seekers, local businesses and community partners.
"Our Rome visitors will be able to see first-hand our mission in action. Many people don't realize that we exist to put people to work. We do this through a variety of job training programs and employment services. We use the sale of donated goods to fund those activities," Armstrong explains.
The career center will be equipped with computers, copiers, job postings, and staff to help job seekers with their search. There will be also a host of other services and resources available. Local business will have the opportunity to use the facility for their own recruitment events and interview sessions.
