-Pessi CEO of Pirelli, assumes chairmanship shortly: (From Tire Business)

Pirelli names Mauro Pessi, a Pirelli veteran who left the company in 2008, to be CEO of Pirelli Tire North America Inc. effective Oct. 1. Mr. Pessi will take over the chairmanship from Hugh Pace, who's been chairman and CEO for the past two years. Pace, 58, will continue as chairman of Rome-based PTNA through year's end.

-$325,000 Caring Communities grant awarded to Floyd County: The Governor's Office for Children and Families announced $2,946,755 in grants awarded to multiple Georgia communities. Included for Floyd: $325,000 to "enhance relationships of pregnant and parenting families with children ages 0-5 who are at risk of child abuse and neglect." The program is administered by the Rome Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth.
