Greater Rome Bank's shareholders meeting Thursday: Greater Rome Bank's annual shareholders meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. at the main office on Martha Berry Highway. Expected: the bank's annual performance review and what's ahead. Founded in February 1996, Greater Rome is the area's oldest community bank

Chamber launches 'Marketplace':  The Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce has launched a business-to-business feature that lets chamber members bid on a broad list of projects or service requests posted by anyone. How it works: Companies in search of products or services can post requests for proposals. Chamber members can respond, and the company seeking work done will be notified by e-mail that bids are in.  For more, click Chamber Marketplace

Northwest Georgia's most addictive new restaurant gets the cover of the new issue of V3 now available in Greater Rome. The cover shot is a tempting piece of sushi, one of the dozens available at the Blue Fin just off Turner McCall and Avenue A in Rome. You'll find copies throughout the community and on sale for $4 at Barnes & Noble.  Updates from the May issue should be online soon at www.v3mag.com.

More changes on local restaurant scene: Look for word soon about a possible sale of a well-known Rome restaurant. Also, 333 on Broad is adding lunch service starting Friday.

Oxendine campaign returns checks linked to State Mutual/Yancey: In a statement out today, gubernatorial candidate John Oxendine comments on the campaign contributions brought to light by the AJC on Sunday. "As it appeared to us, these were not checks from an insurance company we regulate. Additionally, it appeared that these checks were from different entities, not controlled by the same person or people." Upon further review, Oxendine writes that the contributions linked to Dee Yancey and State Mutual Insurance are being returned> Statement

State revenue collections plummet 20.6% Net revenue collections for the month of April were $1,399,047,000 compared to $1,761,180,000 for April 2008, a decrease of $362,133,000 or 20.6 percent, Gov. Sonny Perdue's office said. The year-to-date decrease (fiscal year 2009 vs. 2008) was at 9.6 percent> Details
