Regional gas prices drop; still $1 more than a year ago (8/8/8)

Must be something about summer travel:  The graph above, take from GasBuddy.com and augmented with John Madden-style circles, shows how gas prices have increased each of the past three summers (2005's rise was post-Katrina). Each year, we see prices spike just as the summer driving season hits.

Latest prices: Gas prices dropped 10 cents a gallon since July 31. Statewide,  the average: $3.76, down 9 cents. A year ago: we were paying $2.68.
