Chamber board endorses extending $80.6 million education SPLOST: The one-cent education SPLOST on the Sept. 16 ballot has been endorsed by the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce's board of directors. The unanimous endorsement was announced following Thursday's board meeting. The SPLOST, the only issue on the Sept. 16 Rome/Floyd ballot, basically extends the current education special-purpose, local-option sales tax (one penny on each dollar of taxable purchases in Rome/Floyd County). Revenue would projects earmarked for almost every city and county school, including a Model High School and a two-story addition to Rome High. For more on the chamber vote, click SPLOST
