The shape of things to come at Berry Crossing
Welcome to Berry Crossing, coming soon to the Bypass and Martha Berry. This rendering from MetroGroup Development, the company buying the site from Berry College, sets up this way:
>To the extreme right is Martha Berry. The lower right corner is the new CVS; above it is a new Wachovia branch office (replacing the one where CVS will go).
>In the center is a 7,500-square-foot spot, a potential third anchor if you will, with two 1,300-square-foot "wings" on either side.
>To the far left, between the Bypass on top and Redmond Road on the bottom, you see space for four smaller shops--1,155 square feet each--and two midsized offerings at 2,275 square feet each.
>With the main anchors confirmed--CVS and Wachovia--the hunt is on to fill the remaining 19,000 square feet planned.

>Chambliss campaign team assembled across the state
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) says his statewide grassroots team for his re-election campaign is now organized in all 159 counties and 13 congressional districts. "The heart and soul of every political campaign is the grassroots organization and I am honored to have so many hard working Georgians from all over our great state on my re-election team," Chambliss said. Who's in locally, including 11th District coordinator Jason Shepherd of Marietta.
-Floyd County: Iris Franklin, Stephen Moseley
-Chambliss will face one of these Democrats in the Nov. 4 general election: Dale Cardwell, Vernon Jones, Rand Knight, Josh Lanier or Jim Martin.
Quote of the Day/U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, on House troop vote:
"The members of the Georgia Republican Delegation are not going to stand by and allow the Democratic leadership to use the strength of our votes to further their leftist agenda of withdrawal deadlines, tax increases and wasteful domestic spending. The Democrats' actions on the floor today couldn't provide a clearer picture of where their priorities lie and it's certainly not with our troops. Our brave men and women deserve a clean troop funding measure that gives them every opportunity to succeed in the Global War on Terror not a cut-and-run Iraq policy packaged with an enormous tax increase and we will accept no less."
