Juvenile Court Judge Greg Price awarded national judicial certification by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges

Media release: Greg Price,  Floyd County Juvenile Court Judge,  recently was awarded national judicial certification by the "National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges."

Judge Price was selected,  along with 50 other Juvenile and Family Court Judges from around the United States to attend the 17th Annual Child Abuse and Neglect Institute held at the National Judicial College at the University of Nevada at Reno, Nevada.

Having successfully completed the program, which dealt with progressive measures in handling child neglect and abuse cases, Price said he hopes to bring new and forward thinking Ideas to Floyd County Juvenile Court.

"It was an honor to be selected to participate in the National training program.  To meet  and interact with selected Juvenile Judges from throughout the various states, as well as Juvenile Judges from some of the Tribal Nations of this Country was an extraordinary opportunity.  Additionally, the academic training was extremely  valuable and has given me a strong insight as to  what direction  our Juvenile System needs to move, especially in light of the new Georgia Juvenile Code which becomes effective this coming January."

Price added, " I plan to utilize this National training, coupled with my experience with the Court,  to help our  Floyd County Juvenile Court   be  even  more responsive to the needs of our children, our  families and our community."

To that end, Judge Price plans to have a public training seminar in November to introduce members of the school systems, law enforcement, DFCS, mental health providers and the public to the new Juvenile Laws and procedures.    Further notice will be provided.
