Media release: Whether a baby sitter or a banker, it's more important than ever before to distinguish yourself from the crowd when looking for job opportunities.
To help young people gain a competitive edge in the baby-sitting job market, the Women's and Children's Services department at Floyd Medical Center is offering a baby sitter training course this summer.
Sitters Saturday is taught by pediatric nurses and certified cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructors.
The class is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 17 and covers such topics as infant and child CPR, ensuring a child-safe environment, what to do in an emergency, age-appropriate toys and helpful baby-sitting tips.
Cost of the class is $30, which covers the cost of class materials and lunch. Classes are scheduled from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Floyd Corporate Support Center, 420 E. Second Ave., Suite 101, on the following dates:
• June 8
• June 29
• July 20
• July 27
Each class is limited to eight students, and preregistration is required. To register, contact the Stephen D. Smith M.D. Pediatric Center at Floyd Medical Center at 706.509.6525
