Media release: David J. Lance, President and CEO of Greater Rome Bank, announced today that Greater Rome Bank has contributed $500 in monetary donations to the Sara Hightower Library Summer Reading Program. The 2013 donation marked Greater Rome Bank's seventeenth year of supporting the Summer Reading Program.
"The Summer Reading Program has impacted thousands of children throughout Rome, Floyd County and surrounding communities. Many of our Greater Rome Bank employees' children have attended the library's summer program, and we all agree this program must continue for generations to come," said Mr. Lance. "At Greater Rome Bank, we view our community involvement as an extension of community banking, and our employees embrace the fact that we have a responsibility to give back to our community. "
Children's Coordinator of the Sara Hightower Library Jeanne Mann said, "We operate solely on donations from the community. Greater Rome Bank has been a longtime supporter, and we greatly appreciate their generosity. We will be using the donation for "That Puppet Guy", Lee Bryan, who will perform the Dr. Dinosaur Show on Thursday, May 30th at 10:00a.m. The 2013 Summer Reading Program is open to children ages birth to 18. This year's themes are Dig into Reading and Beneath the Surface. The 2012 program had 3,700 participants, and the program directors anticipate a larger response this year. The program begins May 28th and will conclude on June 18th. For more information, contact the Sara Hightower Library at 706.236.4600 or www.romelibrary.org.
