Media release: Augusta Hosmer, a senior at Armuchee High School, has been named a Stamps Leadership Scholar and will receive a scholarship valued at $210,000 for her college experience. The scholarship will include funds for enrichment that will allow for international travel, a research internship and outdoor leadership experiences. Hosmer will study Biology at Mercer University.
Hosmer is Validictorian of the Armuchee High Class of 2013. She was a 2013 Georgia Scholar and completed the Duke TIP Studies Institute of Human Genetics at Duke University in North Carolina last summer. Hosmer was a member of the National Honors Society and the Academic Decathlon team at Armuchee. She also volunteers in the community at Mount Berry Animal Hospital and the Rome Action Ministries Food Pantry.
The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation supports merit scholarships at 35 partner universities and colleges across the country. This year, over 500,000 applications were reviewed for consideration as Stamps Leadership Scholars and only 170 were selected. Hosmer joins almost 400 Stamps Leadership Scholars and alumni as beneficiaries of these generous awards. Alumni of the Stamps Scholar program include two Rhodes Scholars as well as students pursuing graduate degrees at Harvard Law School and Medical School, the Manhattan School of Music, MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Georgetown, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
