Media release: Model High School's yearbook, The Model, has been recognized for excellence and featured in the 2013 Gotcha Covered Look Book, Volume 11 celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and coverage. The Model yearbook was noted for use of space, specialty spreads, headlines, photobar, coverage, and repetition of theme. The book also featured a unique chronological look at the year at Model High instead of being a traditional sectional book. The book printed by Model students competed against thousands of larger schools across the United States to earn the honor.
Jostens Look Book is a collection of spreads and photos from outstanding yearbooks and their creative themes, cool covers, dazzling designs, relevant coverage, storytelling copy and action-packed photography. Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the important role well-crafted yearbooks play in helping schools chronicle the experiences, stories and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.
The Model was created by Trey Henderson, Editor, Megan Landers, coeditor, Davy Fisher, Dow Turrentine, Stacia Williams, Remington Williams, Austin Park, Kinsey Taschenberger, Madison Edwards, Sydney Andrzejak, Ciara Horner, and Lisa Hall, under the direction of Beth Cooper, Model High School yearbook adviser.
"This is an amazing honor for us as a school and as a staff. Many times, smaller schools are not recognized when we are compared to much larger schools," Cooper said. "We have learned to work as a team and documented memories to last a lifetime."
The Model High School's The Model was one of only 425 yearbooks selected to be included in the Look Book from approximately 3,000 possible books. The 2013 panel of judges, comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 352-page 2013 Look Book.
"Yearbooks are unique, limited edition books created by students to capture the stories and events for all of the school's students,"said John Dalke, editor of the Look Book. "Jostens is proud to celebrate the yearbook tradition and the 425 yearbooks selected for the 2013 Gotcha Covered Look Book," He added, "Today's yearbooks are very sophisticated in terms of visual presentation and the relevant and inclusive content that is featured."
Beth Cooper and her yearbook staff received a copy of Jostens 2013 Gotcha Covered Look Book and plaque from Jostens to recognize their outstanding achievement.
