"The Wizard of Oz" is the classic story of Dorothy Gale, a young girl who is transported by a tornado from her home in Kansas to the magical Land of Oz. There, she is befriended by the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion and meets all kinds of creatures, such as Munchkins, Jitterbugs, Winkies, and Flying Monkeys as well as the good witch Glinda, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the Wizard of Oz. During her adventure, Dorothy learns the power of friendship and that there is no place like home. The story is based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and was given a place in film history with the 1939 film adaptation starring Judy Garland. Rome Little Theatre's production includes the classic songs "Over the Rainbow," "If I Only Had a Brain," and "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead."
The cast and crew of more than 100 includes Christian Arendt (Dorothy), Gary Jones (Scarecrow), Todd Williams (Tinman), and Jackson Williamson (Lion). The show is directed by Don Rusaw and produced by Allison Dolbeer.
