Park, including entertainment by local singer Scott Thompson and the annual
flower drop into the river to honor those who have valiantly battled cancer.
The public is invited to the celebration.

"Cast Off Against Cancer is the cornerstone of our fundraising needs for the
year, but it is also a celebration of all the cancer survivors in our midst
as well as our community and healthcare partnerships," said Charlotte
Atkins, executive director for Cancer Navigators. "That's why a celebration
at the confluence of our local rivers is perfectly symbolic of the coming
together that's needed to help make the journey of cancer patients and their
loved ones easier to navigate."

The nonprofit helps cancer patients in the region who need the one-on-one
services provided by Cancer Navigators, helping them navigate their journey
from diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship and connecting them
to needed resources. Cancer Navigators is 100 percent supported by
donations, which stay in the local community to carry out the mission of
helping cancer patients. All services are free to patients.

Cast Off Against Cancer is sponsored by Floyd Medical Center, Harbin Clinic,
Redmond Regional Medical Center, State Mutual Insurance, Heritage First Bank
and Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
