Freedom Seeker Toy Ride collects more than 200 toys for Toys for Tots

Sunday's inaugural Freedom Seeker Toy Ride staged at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds ended with more than 200 toys donated to the Toys for Tots program, this year with the assistance of the Exchange Club of Rome and the Coosa Valley Fair Association. The Association's Dan Scott reports more than 140 motorcycles and 200-plus riders were on  hand for the event. Riders were fed hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by the group. An extra sign-up day for Toys for Tots is set for this Saturday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Good Neighbor Ministries at 208 E. Second Ave. Parents or guardians of kids up to age 12 can register. Please bring proof of Floyd County residence, a picture ID, the child's Social Security cards or birth certificates. For more on the 2012 campaign, contact Hal Gosnell at rometoys@gmail.com.
