Oct. 27: 39th Peach State Marching Festival at Barron Stadium

Media release: The 39th annual Peach State Marching Festival will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the historic Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. Peach State is the longest continuously running marching band festival in Georgia. Twenty two bands will be competing in the event. They will be from all over North Georgia, Tennessee, Northeast Alabama, and Mississippi. The Rome Middle School Band and the Rome High School Band, "The Sound of The Seven Hills", will perform during the event as exhibition bands.

 

Activities begin at 12:30 P.M. with the presentation of colors by the Rome High School Junior Air Force ROTC Honor Guard and the National Anthem. The festival portion of the event will begin at 12:45 P.M. with awards presentation at 1:45 P.M. Festival judging is based on a qualitative scoring system.

 

The competition part of the Festival will begin at 2:30 P.M. Bands performing will be judged on a numeric scoring system by the judging panel. Awards will be presented at 10:00 P.M.

 

The Rome Middle School Band will perform at 5:00 P.M., and the Rome High School Band will perform at 9:50 P.M.

 

Come and enjoy a day of excellent marching band music. Festival proceeds will be used to defray expenses of the band programs in the Rome City Schools.  This is the major fund raising project for the Rome Band Boosters. Admission is $7 for the entire day. This includes unlimited re-entrance for anyone wishing to leave and return for a later performance.
