Oct. 18: Remond's Women's Health Retreat, a free community event at The Forum

Media release: Redmond Regional Medical Center will host a free community event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness - Women's Health Retreat – on October 18^th from 3-7pm at the Forum.  This "ladies afternoon out" will provide education and services including:  healthy cooking demonstrations, nutrition, fitness, massage and will focus on women's health and wellness.  The event will feature the AmeriBreasts®:  a walk through exhibit with an emphasis on breast cancer education and prevention.   The first 100 ladies attending will receive a free pink tote bag.  Participants can also register for door prizes.  Parking in the deck by the Forum will be free during the event. 

 

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.  Education and early detection are the keys to prevention.  Walking through the AmeriBreasts® inflatable exhibit, participants will be able to see examples of normal breast tissue as well as cancerous tissue in different stages.   Ladies attending the event can also talk with Redmond's Women's Center about various types of imaging used for diagnosis as well as follow up care and even community support through organizations like Cancer Navigators and Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Support Group.  In addition to breast cancer education, ladies will also be treated to a variety of topics and services:  Healthy cooking demonstrations with samples and recipe cards; nutrition information by Great Harvest Bread Company; teas by Cups and Mugs; as well as fitness and even a "beauty stop".  "The Women's Health Retreat is a fantastic opportunity for women to get a small break from their fast-paced lives and get some great information and services on health, wellness and prevention – all in one stop" said Becky Young, Lead Mammography Technologist at Redmond.
