Seven new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers who have successfully completed 40 hours of specialized training were sworn in Monday by Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Pape. CASA volunteers are assigned to a foster child's case and advocate for the child's best interest in juvenile court proceedings until the case has been resolved. The goal of the CASA volunteer is to ensure a safe, permanent home for the child as quickly as possible, and as such works closely with all the parties involved in the case. The new volunteers are Rebecca Henry, Rany Logan, Kesh Conklin, Beth Taylor, Valerie Tuttle, Alan Jackson and Ruth Cipolla.  Currently, there are more than 250 children in foster care in Floyd County and the need for CASA volunteers has never been greater. New CASA training begins this week. For more information call 706-235-2272 or visit us online at www.floydcountycasa.org.
