7th/8th Grade Berry College Mathematics Contest

(Media Release) Berry College hosted the Spring 2012 7th/8th-grade Berry
College Mathematics Contest on Tuesday, March 20.

Of the 15 seventh and eighth-grade teams that competed at the event, the top
three teams were: 1st -Tattnall Square Academy, 2nd - Jasper Middle School,
and 3rd -Heritage Middle School. Top individuals student winners were: Adam
Morzinski (Heritage) - 1st, Logan Fountain (Jasper) - 2nd, and Jacob Dooley
(Tattnall) - 3rd.

Participating schools included: Armuchee Middle School (Floyd County),
Bagley Middle School (Murray County), Berry College Elementary & Middle
School (Rome), Clear Creek Middle School (Ellijay), Coosa Middle School
(Floyd County), Dade Middle School (Dade County), Heritage Middle School
(Catoosa County), Jasper Middle School (Pickens County), LaFayette Middle
School (Walker County), Pepperell Middle School (Floyd County), Pickens
County Middle School (Pickens County), Rome Middle School (Rome),
Sonoraville Middle School (Gordon County), St. Mary's School (Rome), and
Tattnall Square Academy (Macon).

Berry College hosts the competition to promote and encourage mathematical
excellence. Several Berry students and mathematics faculty worked with the
event. Dr. Martha Tapia, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education, is
the faculty supervisor for the event.
