Floyd Medical Center's Kurt Stuenkel named chair-elect of Georgia Hospital Association

Media release: Kurt Stuenkel, president and chief executive officer Floyd
Medical Center in Rome, was named chairman elect of the Board of Trustees of
the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) at the association's annual
convention on Feb. 22 in Atlanta. He will succeed 2012 Chairman William T.
Moore, president and chief executive officer of Atlanta Medical Center in
Atlanta.

Stuenkel has served as president and CEO of Floyd since January 1996, and
worked at Floyd Medical Center since 1981. Over the course of his career, he
has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer, senior
vice president, assistant executive director, director of professional
services and projects officer. As president and CEO, Stuenkel is responsible
for the leadership, management and administration of Floyd and its
affiliates.

Under his leadership, Floyd has been named Large Hospital of the Year three
times by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, was ranked no. 27
among America's Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, and
consistently ranks among the highest rated employers in the nation by H.R.
Solutions Inc., for employee satisfaction. Floyd earned six 2011 VHA Georgia
Leadership Awards for clinical and operational process improvements.

Stuenkel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University in Atlanta.
He received his Master of Business Administration and Master of Health
Administration degrees from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He
completed an administrative residency at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.

we are fortunate to add him to our leadership team."

Stuenkel is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is
actively involved in the health care community. He is the immediate past
Chairman of the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, Co-Chairman of the
Save Georgia Healthcare Coalition, and a member of the boards of VHA Georgia
and the Georgia Trauma Commission. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Rome
and is a graduate of Leadership Rome and Leadership Georgia.
