-Pepperell, Rome, Darlington, Calhoun, Armuchee, Rockmart, Cass, Gordon Central and Chattooga to start new season off with wins, says Northwest Georgia's Mr. High School Football.

-Two games, one station, no problems: We've seen WJTH in Calhoun (AM 900 / 101.7 FM) do it for several years and now the folks at WBHF 1450 AM in Cartersville are giving it a go. The radio station will carry the Pepperell at Cartersville game Friday night with coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m. It also will be heard on Comcast Channel 23 (in Bartow) Another key showdown, Cass at Woodland, is Friday night and it will be webcast on Bartow Headlines. The decision for the first weekend of high school ball is key as only one station in Bartow is providing coverage this fall.

-Other stations carrying Friday night football this fall are as follows; click each for games and broadcast schedules: WRGA / Q102 / 93.5 Life / South 107 / WLAQ / The Ridge / Hometown 1220 AM / WGAA / WEBS

-More indoor football news: As we wait for formal word on the new Rome Southern Indoor Football League team, here's good news for AFL fans: The Georgia Force is back, courtesy of a move by the Huntsville Vipers. Facebook

-Upon further review . . . : Here's a wild rumor for now. A third football team playing at Barron Stadium each fall, joining the Rome High Wolves and Shorter Hawks? Like we said: just a rumor now--but a stubborn, well-traveled one.
