Indoor football returning to Rome next year?

sifl_fanzone1 -That's the buzz in Downtown Rome as a franchisee prepares to bring the Southern Indoor Football League to Rome starting in March 2011. The league, which features the SIFL-champion Columbus, Ga., Lions and Albany, Ga., Panthers, is in talks with an out-of-town investor to bring a team to The Forum. Indoor football was played there for two years as the Rome Renegades twice made their way to the league championships games. The Renegades, under the direction of former Rome High Coach David Humphreys, lost both of those games. Rome businessman Harry Pierce and his partners shutdown the Renegades after the 2006 season.

Maybe they should call it social retailing, not social media:

-Prime Outlets in Calhoun is planning a one-day-only Foursquare Fashion Dash, rewarding shoppers who check-in via Foursquare at participating stores with exclusive discounts and savings. The sale is from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday. Look for savings up to 20 percent off purchases at Black & Decker Factory Store, Catherine's Plus Size Outlet, Easy Spirit Outlet, Java Junction, Jones New York Outlet, Lane Bryant Outlet, maurices, Rak Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger and VF Outlet. How it works: Customers using Foursquare check in with each other, give their locations and hear about or share items of interest. For example: shopping tips or specials. Where to eat--or to avoid eating. Prime Outlets is on Foursquare and the current mayor (most posted user) is "Kelly C."

CCH--that's all, folks: The exodus of CCH Small Firm Services from West Rome to near Kennesaw is complete. The last few employees checked out Thursday. With the move goes nearly 350 jobs although some have chosen to keep their homes in Greater Rome. And others have no choice with few homes in the $200,000-plus range selling these days.
