'Blood Madness' massive blood drive set for Jan. 26 at The Forum: Blood Assurance, 93.5 Life FM and South 107 are challenging the community to participate in the region's largest blood drive. The goal of the Tuesday, Jan. 26, event at The Forum from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. is to collect 400 blood donations. That's enough to supply Blood Assurance for one day. The agency is the only provider of blood products for Redmond Regional Medical Center, Floyd Medical Center and other area hospitals. -Blood Assurance to open office in Cartersville Jan. 25: Look for the new Blood Assurance office in Cartersville at Collins Point shopping center (behind the new CVS) beginning Jan. 25. Doors open at10 a.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. Blood Assurance also has an office in Rome at Midtown Crossing shopping center.


Georgia Trend's 'Legends' salutes Armuchee's Lee Walburn: The January issue looks at essayist Lee Walburn's many hats worn in his career, from writing and editing at the Atlanta newspapers to to public relations work with the Atlanta Braves and then his own PR firm, and his years as editor of Atlanta magazine. Walburn is profiled in the "Legends" column under the headline "A Sporting Life." Adding to the story: Walburn joins his wife, Jackie, as the only couple we're aware of to be featured in the "Legends" column. Jackie Miller Walburn was featured in the November 2007 edition, which highlighted her dazzling sports career. Jackie will be inducted into the Rome/Floyd Sports Hall of Fame in March> Details
