Friday's updates

Retail

Changing tides at Mount Berry Square one year later:

-The winter clearance sale today through Monday at Mount Berry Square isn't the only event at the mall this weekend. It is a time of comings and goings. As shoppers spot the clearance sale at the soon-to-go Gap store, they're also seeing signs announcing The Children's Place across from Hibbett's. And on another end, near the main entrance and the carousel, final touches are being added to Connect Rome new digs -- complete with The Nest Coffee Shop -- in the former Don Pablo's. Changes continue at the mall as Jones Lang LaSalle begins a second year as receiver of it and three owner malls. All four remain on the market today, either individually or in a $30 million package deal.

-Bids sought on renovation of Cartersville Wal-Mart:

The bid date is Jan. 21 on plans to renovate the 100,000-square-foot store at 101 Market Place Blvd. near Lowe's across from Georgia Highlands' Cartersville campus. The West Rome Wal-Mart also is do for an extensive facelift this year.
