Haiti relief

-Local donations to Red Cross top $11,000: The American Red Cross has received more than $11,000 locally for disaster relief in Haiti in just a week, according to Jac Whatley, director of the Coosa Valley Chapter. Gifts for Haiti can be sent to 112 John Maddox Drive, Rome, 30165 or at www.redcross.org.

-Feb. 19-21/Darlington presents Hello, Dolly!: Darlington School's fine arts department will present the famous Broadway musical "Hello, Dolly!" Feb. 19-21 at Rome City Auditorium. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday's show will be at 2:30 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. Reserved seats are $15. -Road closed for two weeks in Chattooga County: The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Chattooga County of the closure of State Route 337 at mile post 6.1 north of Menlo, to allow for work on replacing the two collapsed drainage pipes under the roadway at that location. This pipe replacement operation is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.  While the highway is closed to through traffic, local traffic can still access the route up to the work site.  Northbound through traffic is detoured off SR 337 onto SR 1/US 27, right on SR 48 and back to SR 337. Southbound traffic is redirected onto SR 48, left on US 27 and back to SR 337.
