Downtown Mr. Brown's closes; McCrobie's status unknown: Two downtown Rome restaurants were dark Tuesday night as crowds gathered for the Rome Christmas Parade. Gone for sure is Downtown Mr. Brown's at the corner of Broad and First. It opened just a few months ago in the spot that once was home to Cotton Block Barbecue, a downtown favorite. Also dark: McCrobie's. The former club has been open for meals and some entertainment since losing its alcohol permit. The phone was out of order Monday and Tuesday as well. Plus: Look for a change at a third downtown restaurant in coming weeks as well.
