175th celebration begins: Town Green ready for phase 1 debut

Rome's 175th Anniversary celebration begins today at 10:30 a.m. with the dedication of Town Green and Third Avenue Parking Deck. Students from East Central Elementary's kindergarten class will be singing a song and will be among the first to play in the fountain. Workers from the Parks and Recreation Authority, Rome Public Works and Floyd County Public Works will be recognized for their efforts in completing Town Green. (Updates later today)

-Chamber plans 'Innovation Conference' on alternative energy, angel investing for Nov. 12: Following on last fall's success, the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce is assembling a new Innovation Conference Nov. 12 to be held at Berry College's Science Auditorium on Nov. 12. Following a keynote speech by Jill Stuckey, director of alternative fuels with the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority, attendees will choose breakout sessions on angel investing or alternative fuels.
