-Later today/Georgia State's economic forecast: Rajeev Dhawan of Georgia State University's Economic Forecasting Center will present his analysis of the state of the Georgia and national economies later today on the GSU campus. We will post the highlights as soon as they've made available> The Center

-Another indicator about how delicate the job market is: Shorter College, The Forum and the state Department of Labor have organized a career fair for Sept. 24. Already, they've seen responses from more than 50 vendors and more than 100 attendees. The career fair is free and open to all but preregistration is required. The hours are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 24> Details

Wednesday's Buzz:

Shorter College School of Nursing open house

April Allen of Shorter College's School of Nursing shows some of the beds and work stations that fill the college's new nursing campus at Riverbend Center. Shorter held an open house at the center Tuesday evening, walking guests through conference rooms, offices, exam rooms and the future computer lab. Students are enrolled in some nursing-related courses this year. The school goes formal in the fall of 2010> Details

-Floyd County Schools' SAT scores are once again well above the state and national average scores. Floyd Schools, as a system, had the highest score ever recorded at 1552; an increase of 34 points over last year> Details  

-New this fall at Shorter College: 22 full-time faculty members> Campus

-The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority is looking to form an Adult Basketball League and wants to hear from teams interested in participating.  Register your team early for Adult Basketball.
